Longwood
Oak-canopied streets and Old Florida character midway between Orlando and Sanford.
Explore Longwood HomesWelcome to Longwood

Longwood is a small Seminole County city roughly midway between Orlando and Sanford, and it is best known for its tree canopy. Mature oaks arch over many of its streets, and the historic core along Warren Avenue preserves an older, slower Florida that has largely disappeared elsewhere in the metro.
The city sits immediately west of Wekiwa Springs State Park, one of the region's most popular natural attractions, and it has its own SunRail station, which makes commuting to downtown Orlando and the surrounding employment centers straightforward.

Local Lifestyle & Neighborhood Character
Longwood feels quieter and more residential than its neighbors. The Longwood Historic District around Warren Avenue is the community's anchor, with a small cluster of shops and local businesses in restored buildings, while the city's parks and the Little Wekiva River greenway give the area a distinctly green feel. Lots tend to be larger and homes more spread out than in the newer master-planned communities nearby.

Restaurants & Dining
Longwood's dining is local and low-key: independent restaurants and cafés cluster around the historic district and along the SR-434 corridor, with a wider selection a short drive away in Lake Mary, Altamonte Springs and Sanford.

Shopping
Everyday shopping is convenient along SR-434 and the nearby Altamonte Springs and Lake Mary corridors. The historic district adds small independent shops and services within walking distance of the surrounding neighborhoods.

Entertainment
Longwood's calendar leans toward community events, park programming and the dining and arts found in the historic district. Bigger venues — including those around the University of Central Florida and in downtown Orlando — are within a short drive or a SunRail ride.

Parks & Recreation
Wekiwa Springs State Park borders the city and offers swimming in the spring, hiking, paddling and picnic areas in a genuinely wild setting. Within Longwood, Reiter Park and the neighborhood parks provide ball fields, playgrounds and walking paths, and the Seminole Wekiva Trail connects to longer rides.

Local Attractions
Wekiwa Springs State Park is the area's signature attraction. Longwood also preserves towering cypress trees in local parks, and the city's SunRail station makes it easy to reach downtown Orlando without driving.

Local Market Context
Longwood is a smaller, established market, and that shows in what comes available: mostly single-family homes on generous lots, with a mix of mid-century ranches, updated older homes and a limited number of newer builds. Because so little of the city is undeveloped, listings here tend to turn over less often than in the fast-growing communities to the south and east. Buyers who value lot size, mature landscaping and a shorter commute than the outer suburbs allow often find Longwood a good fit; current availability is best judged by looking at live listings.
