American flag and VOTE button illustrating the myth “My One Vote Won't Make a Difference.” Wednesday Myth vs. Fact with Renee Holt, REALTOR®.

MYTH: “I don't like any of the candidates, and my one vote won't change anything. Why bother?”

FACT: Every eligible voter has an opportunity to help shape the future of their community.

With Election Day approaching on November 3, conversations about the economy, housing affordability, taxes, and the direction of our communities are on many people's minds. It's understandable to feel frustrated when none of the candidates seems to represent everything you believe in.

But elections are about more than any one candidate. The people elected to represent us make decisions that can affect our schools, roads, neighborhoods, property taxes, and local development.

As a Central Florida REALTOR® for 23 years, I've seen how decisions made at the local and state levels can influence the communities where we live and work. And while one vote cannot guarantee a particular outcome, participating gives each voter a voice in the process.

You don't have to agree with every candidate or every policy to take an interest in your community's future.

Before Election Day, take time to review your ballot, research the candidates and issues, and make an informed decision.

Whatever your political views, understanding the choices on your ballot is worthwhile.
